The mission of the Saskatchewan Organization for Heritage Languages (SOHL) is to promote and develop the teaching of heritage languages (that is languages other than English and French) in Saskatchewan. This mission shall be accomplished by identifying and securing funding available at the provincial and national levels for the support of local heritage language schools; by providing organizational advice and assistance for the establishment of heritage language schools at the local level throughout the province; by providing skill development opportunities for heritage language teachers; and by developing and identifying resource materials which will enhance the teaching of heritage languages.

We envision that within the context of a multilingual, multicultural Canadian society, free of prejudice, the Saskatchewan Organization for Heritage Languages will support community-based initiatives which promote equal opportunity and access to heritage language education, with the goal of providing Saskatchewan residents with a well-rounded education.
